Whether you’re practicing to one day compete, or want to increase your speed and accuracy to get more clients, mastering your acrylic liquid-to-powder ratio will help make work easier and more fun.

“Controlling your acrylic liquid-to-powder ratio is a challenge. Always use the recommended size brush that comes with your system and use a traditional small dappen dish filled halfway with fresh liquid monomer. This will help you control the liquid in your brush.

Saturate your brush in the liquid and then wipe all the liquid out. Re-dip the brush so the bristles are half submerged in the liquid, then press the brush against the inside of the dappen dish to release the liquid as you pull it out. The longer you press the brush against the dappen dish, the more liquid you’ll release and the dryer the bead of powder will be and the more control you will have.”
