We Are a Reflection of You

Mine is not the only now face you’ll see in this month’s issue of NAILS. You will notice, as you go through this issue, that we have added several new faces to the editorial team of NAILS, You may recognize some of them as your colleagues because we have invited some of our industry’s finest nail technicians and salon leaders to write new, regular columns and articles for us.

Paula Gilmore, a California salon owner who has written articles for NAILS in the past and who has done the nails for our cover, will author a bimonthly column. Although her column is tilled “For Salon Owners Only,” she will discuss business topics that will be valuable to nail technicians considering opening their own salon and independent contractors who run their own business. Ken Cassidy, who has produced a series of audiocassettes on booth renting, begins a quarterly column specifically on booth rental issues. His focus will be on how to make the booth rental arrangement successful and profitable for the renter and the salon owner.

We are especially delighted with our new formal for the Nail Art How-to section. This popular section will be authored by a talented trio of artists, who will each do four columns in the coming year. Elizabeth Zarzecki, whose nail art has been published NAILS, kicks off the first column; she will be joined by multi-competition winners Traci Suggs and Luann Rounds. We still welcome suggestions from our readers on designs they’d like to see.

We introduce this month a new doctor column called “Dr. Mix on Foot Care.” Dr. Godfrey Mix is a podiatrist who has had a long interest in the professional nail care field (his wife is a nail technician), and he will author a quarterly column on foot care issues. For next month, we are very honored to announce that Dr. Richard Scher, an internationally recognized physician who specializes in nails and a frequently quoted nail expert, will take over for Dr. Paul Kechijian as The Nail Doctor. As always, we welcome all reader comments and questions to be addressed in that forum.

Please join me in welcoming this esteemed group. I hope you agree that NAILS Magazine truly reflects today’s professional nail industry.
