After attending a networking event in Michigan in 2009, nail techs Dayna Knight and Annette Sykaluk set out to bring a similar event to Canada. The two discussed “a mountain of ideas” over a glass of wine and the Canadian Nail Tech Connection (CNTC) was born. Since then the CNTC has sponsored two successful events, the most recent in London, Ontario, in November.

“It is a great experience for those still in school, giving them a head start on what they should expect out in the working world. Even a seasoned nail professional will benefit from coming out and seeing what this event has to offer,” says Knight. The November event offered both education and a chance to network with suppliers and other nail techs, plus product demonstrations and informational sessions on infection control and posture and exercises. Every attendee received a gift bag valued at approximately $200.

“After our second successful year we have decided to keep this as a permanent fixture here in London and hope to branch out across Canada,” says Knight.
