Behind the Scenes: More Men

A man's desire for buffed nails is providing a growth opportunity for salons.

We want more men! That’s the cry we often hear from readers— and they don’t mean in their lives (although that might also be true) — when referring to NAILS’ covers. With men’s nail care services still one of the top five trends we have been following, it only seems fitting that we feature a man’s hands on the cover.

Strong and natural is a good thing when it comes to masculine hands, so we enlisted model and singer/musician Zoe Alexander to pose for this month’s cover. We put Elsbeth Schutz, Orange, Calif.-based international educator for Orly International, to the task of trimming, buffing, filing, and of course, massaging his hands for the shoot. After his MAN-icure, Zoe was all too happy to show off his harmonica skills — and his newly buffed-to-perfection nails.

It seems like more and more men are going to salons to get pampered. Hopefully, you are taking advantage of this evergrowing group of clientele.
