diamond bit

An abrasive tool that consists of a steel shank with a diamond (a stone form of carbon) abrasive as the grinding material on the head; used with an electric file to shape and prep artificial enhancements. Diamond bits are excellent for filing enhancements, but they have a tendency to heat up if kept over one part of the nail for too long. Diamond bits grind the product down (leaving filing dust) as opposed to carbide bits that shave the product down (leaving shavings or chips).
