Should the base coat, polish, and top coat all be the same brand name to be chemically compatible for better adhesion?
Mixing different brands of base coat, polish, and top coat can sometimes cause a loss of adhesion leading to chipping, as well as other problems such as yellowing or shifting of nail polish color. Some people do mix brands anyway, but since manufacturers normally design and test products to work only with their own brand, the manufacturers cannot guarantee results if you do this. — Paul Bryson is director of research and development at OPI.
