Q&A

Should I apply a new coat of acrylic to a weekly acrylic client's nails?

Q.

A client wearing acrylics wants to come in weekly. Should another coat of acrylic be added or is there another procedure to follow?

A.

Some clients’ nails grow faster than others. If your client’s nails grow fast enough to justify a fill every week, then I would go ahead and fill them. But if not, she may just need a little buffing and filing to clean them up until her next fill. Just apply a fresh coat of polish and she will probably be happy. I would charge the same price as a manicure for this service. — Tina Sauber-Spencer is owner of Bahama Mamas Tanning & Nail Spa in Horton, Mich.
