When I was out sick for a month, I had a client go to a different salon, and now her nails are pulling away from skin. I think it is MMA damaged nails and she wants me to fix them but I don’t know what to do. Please help me.
Nails that are pulling away from the skin could be caused by a number of things. There is a possibility the salon used MMA (methyl methacrylate), which can cause severe allergic reactions, especially if the technician applied the product too wet or allowed the product to come in contact with the skin. It is also possible the client has an infection of some sort. But as nail professionals we are not qualified to make such a diagnosis. My advice is to refer her to a doctor before you do anything to her nails. Make sure the doctor says she is OK and free from infection, and then you can start her on a natural nail re-strengthening treatment and get her back to healthy enhancements. — Gina Silvestro is an international educator for Akzentz.
