Ten aspiring beauty industry professionals will receive full scholarships from the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation (BCL) to complete nail technician programs.

Creative Nail Design, Inc. (CND) funded the scholarship in honor of actress/humanitarian Tippi Hedren, who has long contributed efforts in helping men and women become educated in the professional nail industry. CND has supported Beauty Changes Lives since the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) created a signature event in 2009.

A panel of industry judges selected the winners based on their applications, which consisted of a brief video or essay addressing the question, “Why are you pursuing a career in the nail industry, and how would receiving a professional nail scholarship change/fulfill your life?”

“The winners demonstrated passion and an incredibly entrepreneurial mindset so characteristic of the professional nail industry,” said BCL foundation president Lynelle Lynch.

Jan Arnold, co-founder, style director, and BCL board member noted, “It is rewarding to see how the Beauty Changes Lives initiative has gained the support of educators, product companies, licensed professionals, and celebrity artists while introducing a new generation of emerging talent to careers in the beauty and wellness industry.”

Winners and their respective schools include the following: Dakota Gibson, Ohio State School of Cosmetology, Columbus, Ohio; Nikki Click, Boca Beauty Academy, Boca Raton, Fla; Melissa Hernandez, Career Academy of Beauty, Garden Grove, Calif; Christina Saem, Evergreen Beauty College, Everett, Wash; Timithea Parker, Academy of Nail Technology, Phoenix, Ariz; Dang Nguyen, Advance Beauty College, Garden Grove, Calif; Amie Pollard, Spa Tech Institute, Westbrook, Maine; Jasmine Briones, Evergreen Beauty College, Everett, Wash; Megan Rainwater Brazil, Evergreen Beauty College, Everett, Wash; and Holly Kalil, Advance Beauty College, Garden Grove, Calif.
