At NAILS, we’re constantly striving to inspire you with beautiful covers while maintaining a “real world” feel. This month, we enlisted Kupa’s Vicki Peters to do a set of tip-and-overlay gel nails that any one of our readers (well, maybe with a little practice) could replicate in the salon.
A nail tech for 25 years, Vicki has the experience of doing a lot of everything — from working in the salon, to competing, to directing competitions, to educating, to doing more than 200 covers over her career. But she says “it’s still a challenge to make the cover nails ‘camera-ready.’ Having to work outside of a normal salon setting always stretches you as a tech no matter who you are.”
For this month’s cover, Vicki used Kupa’s Vicki Peters Signature Series S-Gel over the company’s new Welless White Tips (which she is still testing). Being the guru of electric files that she is, Vicki shaped and finished the nails with the VP Safety Bit. She finished the set with a coat of Gel Shine on all 10 nails, cured one last time, and vóila, the perfect set of wearable French nails.
