Pivot Point International once was a one-campus, 100-hour nail technician certification school. Now it has three campuses in the Chicago area and the program takes 350 hours for certification. Pivot Point students were given the opportunity to compete in a nail art competition against fellow classmates and students from the other two campuses. The Fantasy Nail Art competition took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel August 28. Each had one hour to complete a fantasy design on five of a model’s nails, and Deborah Mack and Dora Brooks coached. Students chose themes such as carnival, Southwestern, peacock, and tropical sunset. David Placek took professional photographs of the nails. These were the winners:

Fantasy Nail Art: First place, Angela Di Biase; second place, Laura Hansen; third place, Rebecca Meyerhoff.
