What better to accompany Salon Utopia’s Yin and Yang Pedicure than a tempting array of sushi and sake?

Two Tuesday evenings per month, this Coral Springs, Fla., salon hosts a Sushi/Sake Night where guests sample Asian cuisine while enjoying an invigorating pedicure. The Yin and Yang Pedicure is designed to refresh by alternating hot and cold sensations, explains nail tech Lori Scalzo, who delivers the soothing service alongside fellow nail tech Shelby Berman. “It’s a basic pedicure followed by a paraffin dip. After the paraffin is removed, the feet are dipped into ice water, then a chilled foot cream is applied.” Some clients opt to forgo the ice and dip in cold water instead. Owner Brenda Hunter picks up the sushi at a local restaurant, and her husband, a liquor importer, supplies the sake. Hunter charges $50 for both the food and the service, a $7 premium over the usual cost of the pedicure.
