The average traditional polish service takes 15 minutes to apply from base coat, to two coats of color, to top coat. And then, it takes (on average) another half an hour to an hour to fully dry, says Watson. “Virtually no one charges for the application of color. Its cost is ‘included’ in their service. So from a business standpoint your 15-minute application time is worth zero dollars!” she says. Soak-off gels like Star’s Eco Soak Off UV Color can be applied in that same 15 minutes with the drying time included. “But with Soak Off UV Color you can charge as little as $10 and as much as $20 for this long-lasting application. At $10 per every 15 minutes you’re now averaging $40 an hour just for color application that used to make you nothing,” she says.
“Polish Removal can also take, on average, 15 minutes to remove with non-acetone remover. The Eco Soak Off UV Color needs only five minutes. Because it soaks off, you can position your client at a ‘removal bar’ and continue to service another client resulting in more available time to make money.”
