Q: What is your favorite thing about the nail industry?

"Nail artistry is only limited by your imagination! It’s such a beautiful way to give someone wearable art and connect with people — whether connecting with other nail artists or with our clients through services. Having been in the industry for quite some time, it is amazing watch yourself grow artistically as well as your fellow nail colleagues. Every time someone shares a new technique or trend that hasn’t been done or seen before is another opportunity to try something new and give your clients something fresh while pushing your own boundaries artistically.

The beautiful thing about nail artistry is that everyone has their own styles and strengths. No one person has to be amazing at every single technique to be considered highly skilled and talented artist. Through painting these 10 tiny canvases, we can express ourselves. I love getting to know other nail artists work and style and appreciating their artistic capabilities. Sometimes it’s so mind-blowing and inspiring.

Nails are one of the few art forms where a person gets to wear it 24/7 and it is so highly visible to others. When my clients tell me they get so many compliments on their nails, especially when it’s a design I was passionate about doing, it makes me feel elated to know others see the art and appreciate it. There have been a few times when clients have shared that someone around town saw their nails and asked my client if I did her nails, because my style and artistry is well known around town and it feels like the highest compliment to be recognized like that.

I love the concept of creating temporary art on living human being — they leave your salon with your creation on them for 2-4 weeks and then they are gone. We sometimes reminisce about older legendary art we created. I love that clients might match their outfits to compliment the art you’ve done on them. They might choose a certain theme to fit whatever big event is in their life coming up. And we get to be a part of that. "
