
America’s Beauty and Wellness Industry Under Threat from Proposed Regulations Now Being Considered by U.S. Department of Education

The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is now accepting applications for the 2017 PBA Lifetime Member Scholarship and the 2017 Minerva Beauty Scholarship.


The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) is now accepting applications for the 2017 PBA Lifetime Member Scholarship and the 2017 Minerva Beauty Scholarship.
The PBA is awarding the Joseph L. Weir Lifetime Member scholarship to current PBA individual and student members to use towards continuing education or cosmetology school. A total of five (5) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2017. The application deadline is March 1, 2017. Five scholarship recipients will be chosen and notified by email. All scholarships are funded by The Joseph L Weir Trust and administered by the Professional Beauty Association Foundation.

This scholarship is available because of the Joseph L. Weir Trust, in 1984 by the estate of Joseph Weir for charitable and education purposes. Joseph’s joined the National Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association in 1947, served as president of the board for three terms, and received honorary lifetime membership in 1974.Click here to apply.
For the 2017 Minerva Beauty Scholarship, ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to PBA student members currently enrolled in an accredited cosmetology school. The application deadline is May 31, 2017. All scholarships are funded by Minerva Beauty, a leading manufacturer and distributor of salon equipment, and administered by the PBA Foundation. To be eligible for either scholarship, you must be a current PBA student member enrolled full time in an accredited cosmetology school. Scholarship recipients will be chosen and notified by email. All scholarships are administered by the Professional Beauty Association Foundation. Applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the PBA Chair. All scholarship awards are final. Scholarship funds awarded must be used within one year of being awarded.
