Whether they’re dealing with a small break or a major tear, clients of Gene Juarez Salons & Spas are grateful to see a Natural Nail Repair service on the menu, especially if they have a special occasion coming up. The chain — with 10 locations in the Pacific Northwest — charges $9 for a fiberglass overlay with another service, or $15 as a standalone repair.

“Most clients we see have long nails with have a small tear in the free edge, though a few have a tiny tear low down on the nail, and they want to strengthen it while it grows out more comfortably,” says Rosalie Bayne, nail department trainer and department lead at the Lynnwood location. “I will have regular gel-polish clients who are always breaking a nail. I can apply an overlay quickly and then it just soaks off at their next appointment. I also occasionally see a new client who just really wants to save her nail and stops in for 15 minutes. I can usually turn these clients into regular guests.”
