Nail tech Lynda Lam has an easy method to clean out stubborn gel or acrylic from e-file bits: She uses a pink eraser like the kind you use at school. “It works best with the cheaper pink erasers because they’re harder than the brand name ones,” she says. If you’re having trouble removing product from the flutes of coarse or medium bits using acetone and a brush, Lam recommends running the e-file at 5,000-7,000 RPM to shave against the pink eraser and loosen the acrylic. When the product is loosened, soak the bit in acetone and sanitize and sterilize as usual.
