We all love acrylic nails, but there are still a lot of techs out there who aren’t following proper application procedures and are doing real damage to clients’ nails. Aside from doing acrylics well yourself, here’s how you can help clients who have suffered damage from poor application. Donna Louis, director of marketing at Olan Labs, instructs on how to sell clients on some nail strengthening products to repair acrylic damaged nails.

“Get back to basics and focus on a good, nurturing manicure with a little extra massage from the elbow to fingertips. Add a coat or two of a nail strengthener to protect and reinforce thin, weak nails, followed by two coats of a light blush color polish, and a fast-drying top coat.

Well-manicured nails and cuticles will help make the transition from acrylics to natural nails easier and more acceptable for your clients as they adjust to the new look.

Then you can retail at-home treatments like cuticle oils, creams, nail strengtheners, and top coats. This will not only increase your earnings, but will also educate your clients on how to maintain their nails between appointments. They will not only appreciate your professional advice, but they’ll look forward to their next appointment.”
