Lynette Madden, owner of Salon 29 at Main in East Greenville Pa., learned to save time sizing when she was a new tech. “Test and lay out all your tips before beginning the application,” says Madden. “Both hand will usually use the same size tips. Many clients will also have the same size ring and index fingers, so be sure to check right away to see if the tip fits both fingers.”

To save time when using gels or UV-cured acrylics, Madden suggest you start with the thumb of one hand and put it under the light as you work on the four fingers of the opposite hand. “Once you are ready to cure the four fingers, the thumb is done and you can work on the other hand’s four finger. This should allow plenty of time for curing, she says.
