More spas are offering soaking services that just a few years ago most people would have only indulged in at home. The key aspect that makes bath rituals at Hair Apropos in Chalfont, Pa., so appealing to clients is the spaciousness of the tubs. “Not everyone has an enormous custom-made Japanese soak tub at home,” says salon owner Jenna LaMaina.

At Hair Apropos, clients are able to customize their soaks by choosing from different Japanese and Bali-inspired herbs and essential oils. The services are $35 for 30 minutes or $60 for an hour, and come complete with a hand and scalp massage. To ensure privacy, clients settle into the bathtub in the wet room, which has enough space for the tub, massage table, and a shower.
