This is why you should never work somewhere that's super fun: You might inadvertently seal your gel top coat bottles together. Oops.
Tonight is the annual Visalia Waiters' Race. I have never had a chance to watch it until tonight, since it takes place on Main Street in our downtown business district and starts at about 5:30 in the afternoon.
I work late. So usually, I forget all about the race until it's too late to reschedule my clients so that I can be downtown to root on the crews from my favorite restaurants.
This year, however, I work downtown! And the race is taking place right outside my window, in conjunction with the weekly Farmer's Market. Very cool.
Except …
I've been busy watching the races instead of working. So my last client took about twice as long as usual, but she was enjoying the races too, so I don't feel too bad. Then, I decided I would empty my current bottle of gel top coat into another bottle of gel top coat so as to be sure not to waste a drop of precious, high-dollar product. So I took the brushes out of the bottles, tipped one bottle onto the other — you know how you do — and proceeded to go watch the races from the neighbor's office windows, because they have a view directly down to the street, and because they stash beer in their fridge.
The intention? I would return to my own studio shortly, put the gel top coat bottles away, and write my blog entry before retiring home to the BF.
What happened? The races lost power and had to take an intermission while someone scrounged up a new generator. The girls (hairstylist and former client Breanna, who works across the hall, and Cindy, the massage therapist at the end of the hall) asked if I wanted to tag along on a Starbucks run (I think Starbucks should sponsor my blog). We all ran into people we knew on the way, and when I returned with my now cool-enough-to-drink pumpkin spice latte? Ummmm...
You should never leave UV-cured gel in the light. Ever. Unless you intend to cure it. I broke the two bottles apart from each other, but the brushes? Done. Finished. Over.
So guess who gets to make a trip to the local beauty supply before work tomorrow?
