Well, I forgot another blog post in time to get it posted for Friday. Why am I always forgetting my Friday posts?
I'd love to have an awesome excuse this week. But I don't. I had plenty of time yesterday, I just chose to use most of it to work on another project.
A few weeks ago I got it in my head to organize a Central California networking event. There's no reason for Central Cali not to have had one by now, and I keep waiting for any one of the other fabulous and famous nail techs from the Valley to get around to it. But it just doesn't look like someone else is going to. So I put out some inquiries to see if anyone is even interested and got sufficient feedback for me to start thinking about planning to do this.
Then I saw something bright and shiny.
Now that I have been completely distracted from any networking event goals, I have begun diligent work on a new project: Remember way back when I was all upset about how many hairstyling books and magazines there are and none for nails?
As usual, about a billion people were all "heck yeah! high five" when I first brought it up, and now that I've done the initial legwork and gotten printing quotes and put together the release forms and stuff, I'm having to chase people down and tell them to send me their photos.
But I'm super psyched about this project. I think it's going to turn out great and I think it's something every salon should have on hand. So this looks to be the thing that currently has all my focus right now ... this, and separating all my rhinestones by color.
That was a huge mistake. I ordered a bunch of rhinestones, but I couldn't decide which colors to get, so I just ordered multi-color packs. I now have 7,000 rhinestones in seven sizes. I was just picking out the colors I wanted from the little jars, but it turns out that there are a few colors that are very similar. So I decided they need to be sorted. I have a very stiff neck after spending an hour sorting the size 9s yesterday.
All this and I'm still supposed to do nails too!
And I haven't even begun working on my taxes! *gulp*
