Yup ... staring down the barrel at another new year. This one sure did slip past me fast! My head is still reeling from the holiday chaos; my BFF2 (I have two; they get listed in order of how long I've known them) sent her Christmas cards out with one of those "our family year in review" sheets and I find myself trying to recall 2011 with very little success.
Well, I still have time. It's not over yet.
But 2012 is still ahead of me and, from this angle, it still looks like I can grab it by the horns before getting gored.
Of course, this is the year the world is supposed to end (again), but everyone assures me it's not supposed to come till December — which means that I'll get to at least see the new James Bond movie due in November. But it also means that I'll still need to make plans, set goals, and make it through another tax season.
Maybe one of my resolutions for 2012 will be to actually make those quarterly estimated tax payments in a timely fashion.
Maybe I'll actually build my new nail table and pedicure set up this year... now that I've spent most of 2011 working out the design details.
Maybe I'll pay off the credit cards and break my Starbucks habit ... nahhhhh.
What will you plan on doing this year? Will you stop making excuses for not attending at least one tradeshow this year? Will you try a new product? Will you invest in a new product line? Will you enter a competition? Will you start a website? Will you attend a networking event? Will you — for Hannah's sake — try your hand at retailing?
Look at all those positive options I've given you! Keep your chins up, there's always stuff to rant about and I intend to keep on that, but there's also always stuff to do that allows you to take control of your destiny — or at least your nail station. 2012 is going to be great for this industry!
And if I hear otherwise, I promise to rant about it like crazy!
