Look Good Feel Better, the free, global program that helps people address the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment, has launched new web and mobile makeover tools designed specifically for people undergoing cancer treatment and recovery. The LGFB Beauty app provides an interactive and personalized introduction to the Look Good Feel Better program for people with cancer that can be experienced and shared at the point of care or in the privacy of their own homes.
The app provides an interactive and personalized makeover tool allowing patients to understand changes in their appearance they may experience due to their treatment — from skin tone and complexion to the loss of hair — and begin to address those changes during the course of treatment, helping them to look and feel like themselves again. The interactive program uses a person’s own image, captured through their mobile device or webcam, as well as images of past Look Good Feel Better participants, to dynamically demonstrate for cancer patients how to combat the physical changes that often occur due to cancer treatment.
The application provides a step-by-step walk through a 12-step beauty program, covering a variety of topics from skin care to proper cosmetic applications to the use of turbans, hats, and wigs. It also features expert advice in the form of instructional videos from fashion expert and stylist Stacy London and celebrity makeup artist Carmindy.
The mobile application is free to download in the Apple AppStore. The online tool — which can also be accessed by Droid and other non-Apple mobile devices — is available at www.lookgoodfeelbetter.org/virtual-makeover.
