The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) will delay issuing violations to salons that provide nail services but are using a method of sterilization other than an autoclave until the end of May. “There is some legislative interest in revisiting this requirement,” said TDLR executive director William Kuntz. “Before we begin issuing violations to salons that don’t have an autoclave, we want to allow the legislature time to review the law.” Salons are still required to sterilize all nondisposable instruments, but will be allowed to use ultraviolet light or dry heat in place of an autoclave.
