The brush is a simple tool in a nail tech’s repertoire, but it has come a long way. It wasn’t long ago techs were using standard paint brushes for enhancements, and finding that bristles would soon fall out after working with monomer and acetone. Now brushes are designed with the nail tech in mind, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

This is my brush. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My brush is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My brush without me is useless. Without my brush, I am useless.
My brush is human, even as I, because it is my life.
Thus, I will learn it as a sister. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, and its accessories.
I will keep my brush clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other.

Breaking in a Brush
1. Remove the starch from the bristles by gently separating the hairs with your fingernail.
2. After the starch is removed, dip the brush in monomer to condition the bristles.
3. Remove the monomer by rolling the brush on a towel to make a fine point.
