These colorful holiday designs will help clients spring into Easter.
To create the Easter Egg with Lilies beginner’s design, you will need green, white, yellow, and purple acrylic paints. The design takes about five minutes to do and you can charge $3-$5 per nail.
The advance Easter Bunny design requires a steady hand and a lot of patience to do the outlining. To paint the design, you will need white, black, pink, yellow, and green paints, and a very fine nail art brush. It takes about 20 minutes to do the design, and you can charge $10-$12 per nail.
This month’s artist, Luann Rounds, has been a nail technician for eight years and works at Image Makers International in St. Petersburg, Fla. Eater Egg with Lilies
Step 1: Paint the entire nail pink and let it dry. Next, paint a purple oval in the lower corner of the nail to make the egg. Then paint two tall green leaves and two short ones (as shown).
Step 2: Add one white lily to each leaf by painting a triangle. Round the sides and curl the corners of the triangle, then add a small petal at the top. Next, paint a thin yellow “V” near the top of each lily.
Step 3: Add detail to the Easter egg by painting two slightly curved yellow bands across the egg, making one larger than the other (as shown). Next, paint green dots within the larger band. Finish the design with a nail art sealer.
Easter Bunny
Step 1: Pain the entire nail pink and let it dry. Next, pain a white circle just above the center of the nail to make the bunny’s head. Add ears by painting two upside-down teardrops on the top of its head.
Step 2: Using white paint, make the legs and body of the bunny (as shown). Try to picture where things will go on the bunny, but remember that all of the detail will be done later in the outlining.
Step 3: Add detail to the bunny’s face by painting a small pink teardrop in side of each ear. Add pink ovals to make the nose and paws. To create the flower the bunny is holding in his right paw, begin by painting six large pink dots for the petals. Add a dot of yellow paint for the flower’s center, then paint a green stem and leaf. To make the bunny’s eyes and mouth, paint black comma-type strokes with your brush (as shown).
Step 4: Next, use a very fine nail art brush and black paint carefully to outline the entire bunny. Now picture how the bunny’s forward leg will look before painting it in black (as shown). Use white paint to add extra-fine strokes for the whiskers. Then add pink comma strokes near the bunny’s feet to show motion. Finish the design with a nail art sealer.
