Essie has partnered with Jonathan Van Ness, Queer Eye’s grooming expert, for Pride Month. As the first non-female Essie partner, Van Ness will promote expression and inclusivity. Essie teamed up with Van Ness to create a colorful, fun mani that encourages people everywhere to be themselves and own their individuality loud and proud. Rita Remark, Essie’s global lead educator, created this rainbow mosaic nail art specifically for Van Ness.

To create this look:

1. After manicuring, apply Smooth-e base coat to each nail.

2. As per Jonathan’s signature manicure style, a few nails were polished with color as opposed to his whole hand. For this look, the shades Butler Please, In the Cab-ana, Come Here!, Chillato, Play Date, Geranium, and Tart Deco were used to create abstract rainbow nail art.

3. To recreate, apply each shade one at a time, using the polish brush to blend, creating a marble effect as if all the colors are melting into one another. Repeat on the desired number of nails.

4. Once the design is complete, top each nail with Gel.Setter top coat for a high-shine finish.
