For those who remember the power of last year’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, you know that the ability to do good can go viral. This month, Beauty Changes Lives is hoping to pack as powerful a punch with its #ScholarTip challenge, announced at Cosmoprof North America.

Throughout the month of August, the campaign encourages beauty professionals to donate in either one or two ways:

1. Give your tips. Donate some of your tip money to the BCL Scholarship Fund here http://beautychangeslives.org/scholartips. If you work in a salon with other techs, pool together money by setting aside a communal tip jar. Funds raised from these tips will go toward the BCL Scholarship, helping students pay for beauty school.

2. Give your advice. Donate your wisdom to the next generation of beauty professionals by sharing your tip on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter using hashtags #ScholarTips and #IGAVEATIP. NAILS will be compiling these tips for a future issue, so make sure and share it with us!

3. After giving your tip, nominate a fellow beauty professional to follow suit. Upload a video challenging one or more of your peers to share their advice and get in on the fun.  You can view our sister publication Salon Today’s nomination video here for an example.
