Meet Nina Park and Peka Grayson, the two nail artists honored in the Modern Salon 100 — a list of 100 influencers in the professional beauty industry who are using social media (primarily Instagram) to leverage their careers.

Park is known for her beautiful, hand-painted floral and abstract nail art, which has served as inspiration for many other nail artists on Instagram. Her work has even been featured on screen (you can catch some of her nail art on the TNT show Claws).

She also creates a design every month for a nail art subscription box called the Scratch Monthly Mani Kit.

When asked how social media has changed her life, Park said, "I have been so lucky to stumble into an incredibly supportive niche. I reached out to a few of my favorite nail artists on social media when I was first starting out, and so many of them replied with the best advice and encouraging words. I’ve been even more fortunate to have met other amazing nail artists in person as I travel around the States and even here in Boston!"

Her favorite apps are LINE Camera for editing photos, Phonto for adding watermarks, and Facetune for selfies.

Park's tips for other nail artists cultivating their Instagram look and following: "Background: Find what works best for your skin tone and the nail art! I always go for natural light (but that’s only because I haven’t figured out how to set up a decent lightbox); Hand positioning: This is key! Hand should be poised but relaxed. The “YOU” factor: Try to cultivate a look that is uniquely yours. Ideally, people will be able to recognize your post amidst the flurry of other gorgeous posts in someone’s feed!"

Grayson is known for her long, acrylic extensions and handpainted portrait nail art. Her work is edgy, eye-catching, and often full of bling.

"Being able to show my work and share my energy with the world continues to elevate my life and business in so many ways," Grayson said of how social media has changed her life and helped her career. "I have been given many opportunities by sharing what I love to do, and being able to connect and network with other professionals and those who support Impekable Nails. I have inspired many not only to do nails but to do what they love with an unapologetic certainty."

Her favorite apps include Boomerang, Font Candy for watermarking photos, and KiraKira for adding sparkle to photos and videos.

Her nailfie style? "I personally love natural poses and in natural settings. I like to find the perfect amount of shade and light with a solid or natural textured back ground."
