OPI’s NEW Chrome Effects and Infinite Shine Glaze Toppers
After seasons of barely-there manicures and minimalist nail looks, chrome is officially back in the spotlight.

After seeing the award-winning work of nail artist Sue Ellen Schultes, Arthur Cafaro, vice president of Joyart Jewelry Co. (Bellmore, N.Y.) approached her and asked if she could do something artistic with the company’s 14K-gold nail jewelry. Schultes, owner of Notorious Nail Salon in Green Brook, N.J., accepted the challenge and went to work creating various handpainted nail art designs highlighted with Joyart’s nail charms.
“This creates a different design look for the nail artist as well as enhances the client’s nails,” says Cafaro, who was so impressed with what Schultes came up with that he asked her to teach a class on this new nail art technique.
Wanting to share her nail art skills and to encourage creativity among nail artists, Schultes made her videotape debut with “Fundamentals in Nail Art Volume I” at the IBS New York show in March. The video teaches the fundamentals of nail art and highlights different brush strokes that enable you to create seven unique designs, including floral, scenic, and geometric designs as well as line art. The video also provides step-by-step directions and puts you well on the way to developing a successful nail art career, says Schultes.
“We’re trying to teach people more than just designs; we’re trying to teach them artistry so they can use their own imaginations and creativity to come up with different combinations and colors,” she says. “More Fundamentals in Nail Art Volume II” is now available.
