OPI’s NEW Chrome Effects and Infinite Shine Glaze Toppers
After seasons of barely-there manicures and minimalist nail looks, chrome is officially back in the spotlight.
CND created highly saturated, dramatic nails inspired by angels and demons for The Blonds NYFW show. For Libertine's show, nails were inspired by homespun fabrics and earth tones.

The Blonds' Fall/Winter 2018 collection was inspired by opposing themes of angels versus demons and light versus dark, bringing a sense of danger as well as a breath of fresh air. The collection showcased highly saturated colors, elongated shapes, and a palette of deep ink blacks and Russian reds, with touches of pure white and lush creams throughout.

To complement the collection, CND created demonic warrior nails featuring marbled fire hues and blood red crystals. The nails were exaggerated to create sharp lines, richly saturated colors, and dramatic elements that drive the personality of each individual tip.

CND Design Lab artists used a selection of bold red shades, rich purples and iridescent mylar. Hand-blown marbled pierced tips showcase the fire and fury of the underworld, enhanced with volcanic-shaped crystals. Reptilian crocodile warrior nails emerge through the earth made entirely from CND Shellac Gel Polish and red suede patches. These contrasted with ivory nails overlaid with gold geometric shapes, otherworldly cosmos, and heavenly ceiling frescos.

Libertine's Fall/Winter 2018 collection theme, "Made with Love," paid homage to designer Johnson Hartig's mother. Johnson found comfort in nostalgia, giving each detail in the collection a handmade feel.

The CND team exaggerated the elegance of the woven fabrics, embroidery and lush details with larger than life nails: where Hartig wanted extended fringing, the team took his suggestion and amplified it, creating a nail with fringing down to the floor. Inspired by the homespun feeling of the collection, CND adorned some of the nails with buttons and computer wires, a modernization of old world craftsmanship. Incorporated throughout the nails were soft earth tone hues, cozy sweater fabric textures and rich matte lux finishes.

urs to create the nails for the collection. CND used 4,000 feet of hand-dyed silk fringe sourced in South Africa, more than 5,000 beaded accents on tips and “upcycled” old world found objects such as computer wires to make flower adornments for matte herringbone base nails.

"The nails our team of professionals created this season were an extension of the elegance of the collection and each individual fashion look," says CND co-founder and style director Jan Arnold. "We pushed our creativity and craftsmanship to the edge to show handmade and homemade doesn’t have to mean old fashioned."
