Inspired by female artists like Hannah Hoch and Suzanne Duchamp, who played with bold color and always offered an element of surprise within their work, Julie Kandalec for Essie created an "untraditional French" manicure that mirrored the vibrant, two-tone shoes in teh collection. "We paired interesting and unexpected colors together," says Kandalec of her bold twist on a beauty classic.

Essie's slim brush offers enough precision to create a French tip minus any special tools. "Start from the left side of the nail and drag the brush across the tip in one swoop," Kandalec says of her technique.
