OPI’s NEW Chrome Effects and Infinite Shine Glaze Toppers
After seasons of barely-there manicures and minimalist nail looks, chrome is officially back in the spotlight.
OPI partnered with Moschino for a rare West Coast fashion show featuring a bright dotticure.

Jeremy Scott stands out as a fashion designer in that he embraces colorful nails season after season (see here). OPI has supported Scott’s fashion-forward color craze by sponsoring several of his NYFW shows. On Friday night, the designer and the L.A.-based nail manufacturer took their love of fashion and polish to the West Coast for a rare fashion show at L.A. Live.

Because the venue was in Los Angeles and not in New York, a different crop of nail techs had the opportunity to work the show with veteran nail lead, Miss Pop. OPI executive VP/artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann was able to come out for the event as well, since it was in the company’s backyard. Celebrities such as Katy Perry, Cindy Crawford, and Miranda Kerr (who opened the runway show) also made appearances.

Sizing the tips

Male nails were filed
The nail look mirrored the paillettes (glittering spangles) found on Scott’s bright spring/summer Moschino collection. The nails were created using Infinite Shine. Miss Pop and the OPI team then added varying sized dots in different colors to mimic the embellishments on the Moschino clothing and accessories. All designs were done on different sized tips. The nail team sized up the tips on the models while they were getting hair and makeup done and filed them to perfection before applying. All the models wore closed-toed shoes, so no pedicures were done. For male models, nails were buffed and shined to perfection before hitting the runway.
To get the look, apply one coat of Infinite Shine Primer. Paint nails randomly with Don't Provoke the Plum and No Stopping Me Now. Dip a dotter in To the Finish Lime and apply to the nail. Repeat, randomly placing dots on all 10 fingers. Use Wild Blue Yonder to add more dots. Use Silver on Ice to create smaller dots in the center of the larger dots with a smaller dotting tool.
