OPI’s NEW Chrome Effects and Infinite Shine Glaze Toppers
After seasons of barely-there manicures and minimalist nail looks, chrome is officially back in the spotlight.
For Paris Fashion Week, CND created bold, punk lettering for Vivienne Westwood. Handpainted koi fish swim across delicate fan patterned nails for Manish Arora's Paris show.

Andreas Kronthaler was inspired by his collaborator, friend, partner, and muse, Vivienne Westwood, to create a rebellious collection celebrating individuality, unisex fashion, and free spirit. CND's nail designs brought strong, powerful, unapologetic messages stamped across the nails, nodding to Vivienne Westwood’s freedom of speech and fearless outlook.

‘Human Power,’ ‘Let it Rock,’ ‘XXXL,’ and ‘Sex Sex’ made up part of the bold phrases, worn by both male and female models. And it didn’t stop there: hair grew from models’ fingers, splattered in Vinylux polish, giving the designs a punk stamp of approval.

Shelena Robinson, CND’s lead nail artist, and team CND artist Sarah Okins hand-placed hundreds of precise san serif letters against white, black, and pink Vinylux base nails for a graphic statement. Nails were a soft square shape and medium length, allowing models to flash their iconic ‘Westwood’ proclamations for the cameras and each other alike.

"And this is what you call a power nail!" says CND co-founder and style director Jan Arnold. "As a brand we admire Andreas Kronthaler and Vivienne Westwood for being so fierce in all their creative output — both such incredible, audacious artists. We have loved supporting them in their bold moves through our nail artistry and creativity."

"This nail look has the element of the unexpected — or is it?" says CND brand ambassador Marian Newman. "Anything goes with Andreas Kronthaler and Vivienne Westwood, from risqué statements to hairy tips. But why not? The nails were so powerful, they influenced the shoes in the collection to also include the strong statements."

For Manish Arora's Paris Fashion Week show, CND created an exciting statement on the runway that easily translates into wearable nail art. Shelena Robinson, the show’s CND lead artist, and her team of nail artists handpainted animated koi fish to complement the collection's handpainted wooden shoes. Each finger is a unique work of art, as the koi fish are painted in a different position on each nail to give the impression of fish swimming across all 10 nails.

"Nails play an important part in telling the story of this collection. I am thankful for my partnership with Jan and the CND design team, who have been able to bring my inspiration to life through unrivalled nail creativity and artistry," says designer Manish Arora.

"We are honored to collaborate and partner with Manish this season. He is a joyful spirit, a creative soul and has an intellectual approach to great design. It was magnificent to see the fabulous Manish in action to help us bring our new Fall 2018 Collection to glorious life! The journey of Wild Earth has really helped us push boundaries in our technique and application and we have loved capturing his inspiration and translating this into nail designs," says Jan Arnold, co-founder and style director for CND.

The nails feature a lilac-tinted grey base created using a new Vinylux shade for Fall 2018 with a drop of Cream Puff and Black Pool. They were then stamped with a fan-shaped design in new fall chocolate brown. The same pattern is also featured in the models' makeup. The koi fish were hand-painted using accents of Vinylux Mambo Beat. Each model has an accent of hand-painted feathers on their index fingers.
