OPI’s NEW Chrome Effects and Infinite Shine Glaze Toppers
After seasons of barely-there manicures and minimalist nail looks, chrome is officially back in the spotlight.
NAILS Magazine Shows made continuing education a priority at its New Jersey show held September 11-12. For the first time, all classes and seminars were free for attendees at this show. Class attendance was sold out.

On Saturday, education included drills, infection control, nail art, reflexology, fiberglass, fiberglass with white tips, chemical and technical knowledge, and sculptured acrylic. On Monday, “Art of Business” day, workshops included Business Confidential, How to Prevent No-Shows, AIDS Awareness, For Students Only, Secrets of Success Salon Owner Panel, and Time Management. The salon owner panel was extremely popular. In this workshop, owners of well-known, successful salons were invited to sit on a panel at the show and answer nail technicians’ questions about running a successful salon.
The competitions, always a big hit at this show, drew the most number of competitors ever entered in a division to the Professional Sculptured Nail category. A special trophy for the school whose student won in Student Acrylic Tip and Overlay, went to Judi Lanes, to recognize its high educational standards. A raffle of nail products added to the fun. Galaxy Nail Products, Home Grown Creations, NAILS Magazine, Nails Direct, and Princess Nails were some of the donors. These were the results of the nail competitions:
