There is much work to be done to address the racial and social injustices in 2021. Underrepresentation in the nail world is something The GelBottle has addressed with this new line. When it comes to what clients can do with this line, we’re seeing a return to simplicity and minimalism this year. Shades like smooth Caramel, syrupy and rich Mocha, or creamy Honey offer popular runway looks that include short, bare nails, and evergreen clean, chic nails. The 12 colors of Nu Nudes offer a spectrum of natural shades that are truly representative of a multitude of complexions, bringing the term “bare” out of the beige color scheme. And later this year, The GelBottle’s sister brand, Peacci, will introduce a matching lacquer line with these same 12 unique shades so clients can up their manicure game in shades that actually match their complexion. Less is more in 2021, and with Peacci’s new line, we anticipate to see more nail designs that include simple French manicures, or clean, geometric designs for a more indie style.

Brand partner Alec Cole Hinz says, “If you look at the #nudenails hashtag, you’ll notice something weird…they’re all pink or clear…So if your brain instantly thinks beige or pink when you think of nude, this is why. You were conditioned to think that way.”

2021 is an opportunity to create diversity within the beauty industry.
