Have you ever had a dream that you stepped out on faith to accomplish? Well, I am Alica Best, the owner of Upscale Nail Bar & Boutique in Griffin, Ga. To be a salon owner is my dream. I knew after my first couple of nail classes that this is all I wanted to do. I am determined to get the salon up and running on budget (smile). I will have to be creative, but nail techs are creative — it is our nature. I recently found a location that is perfect for the salon. I know it is going to take some work but I am always up for a challenge. I chose the name “Upscale” because that is the type of service I want to provide. I want to create a space that is cozy so clients can relax and enjoy a service with privacy.

We plan to make this a family business, with my husband Cassius as co-owner. Even our two children are helping us with the salon set up. Without my family’s support I would have never been able to go to school. I worked full-time and went to class at night. It took focus, support, and having a concrete goal in mind. I love helping people, which truly allows me to enjoy doing nails. I feel like this is my way to offer something that people will enjoy and remember. I plan to start out small, but with the space I found I have room to grow. I am so excited to share this road with you, including all of the headaches and joys. I know it is all worth it in the end.
