It is an unusually quiet morning, so I have taken advantage of the time to get my blog done for this week. Last week completely kicked my ass. It was the first time in a long time that I had clients I couldn’t find a time for in my week and had to schedule them into the coming weeks. It was also the first time in a long time that I wished I had a partner I could refer to, to help fill in when I get too busy. My husband is absolutely convinced that I really need to sit down and start formulating a plan for an expansion. At a minimum I should consider finding a true business partner to share the workload, or even, gulp, opening my own full-service day spa. Exciting, and overwhelming, but lots of new things to consider.

The Nailpro Sacramento Show is in just a few weeks on October 2. I intend to purchase my tickets before the end of the week. A dear friend (and fellow nail tech/massage therapist/nail polish junkie) and my husband are joining me for the show. For those that don’t know, he was my state board model for nails. He’s such a trooper, but he honestly just loves supporting me and wants to help. I value his opinion and he enjoys learning about my job and all the things I do during my day. As a teacher and football coach, his work day is very different from mine. It is a blessing that he is as passionate about his career as I am about mine.

I don’t quite know what my game plan will be for the show -- I don’t even have a shopping list yet! I have been looking forward to it for months and I am grateful that this show is here locally in my hometown. Typically I have to drive at least to San Francisco for trade shows and make a day of it. This time I can get there early and take my time, my trip to the convention center will take about 15 minutes, including parking time! I am hoping I can also take advantage of some of the classes being offered on the 3rd as well. That will just depend on if I get booked with clients or not. (If I can swing the day off I for sure will be taking it!)

Any suggestions for things I should check out? Any must haves? Let me know!

Not Good at Saying No

Where to start...where to start...well, let's start with: Why start over? When I graduated from nail school I was immediately hired at a busy full-service salon, and I started working hard to build a clientele. I
