We’ve set up a temporary “pretend salon” at OPI’s North Hollywood headquarters. The idea might sound kind of weird at first, but I’d actually recommend it to any aspiring salon owner. Basically, the makeshift salon will be the place for us to practice our daily protocols before the actual salon ever opens its doors — everything from booking clients (AKA our friends and family who we’ve coerced into being our guinea pigs) to perfecting our services to thoroughly learning the computer system.

Like seemingly everything else, even the road to getting the makeshift salon up and running was bumpy. The main problem, like with the real salon, was finding a location. We went through multiple locations at OPI before we found one we could actually use (then we had to wait for the A/C installation). I’d definitely say that if you can find someone to loan you the space though, that it’s worth the effort. Nadine has already done some trial services in the space, and I’m looking forward to doing some shortly.
