We recently bought an existing nail salon in NYC. I was a former client and always fantasized about what I would do with a salon if I ever owned my own. Well, here I am, and I’m renovating slowly over the past six months so as not to close and lose the client base. I love your salon esthetic. Can you recommend a nail drying station, or specifics to look for, that you think will speed up the drying process and still look more elegant than standard nail dryers?

Congratulations on your salon, and I’m glad to hear you like my salon esthetics. The best route to take to get the look you want is to hire a salon designer. Designers are trained in looking at your floor plan and maximizing it to make it look the best it possibly can. I used John Pohlen at Salon Equipment International. I really liked working with him, and he has a lot of great resources. We also used an interior designer who I liked, Jessica Nakata at The Black Door.

I’m not a fan of nail dryers personally, so we don’t have any. We use OPI Drip Dry Lacquer Drying Drops as part of our service protocol instead.
