The building is completely gutted. So now we're waiting to get our construction permits from the city. We need a "tenant improvement" permit for the first floor, which generally isn't that hard to get, BUT we also need a major construction permit since we're adding a second floor. Before we can start on any of this work -- reinforcing the roof, adding more steel, etc. -- the city has to approve our construction plans. Unfortunately, the permit for the second floor could take a while.

The architect is hoping to finish the plans by the end of this month. Then we're going to pay extra (groan) to expedite them through the permitting process.

On a more positive note, I have a meeting with the furniture guy on Wednesday. We're trying to nail down exactly what equipment Rob|b will be using.
