Extreme Embedding
We asked fans on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/nailsmag) to send us a picture of the most interesting thing they’ve ever embedded in a nail. From beads and feathers to hay (yes, hay!), here’s a look at a few of the images we received.

A Hand to Train On
The training hand has a moveable arm in similar length to a human’s, which can hold the hand in place at any angle. The hand has moveable joints for each knuckle, and a soft rubber tip at the end to mimic the touch of human skin.

In the Holiday Spirit
The winter holidays are the perfect time to offer your clients customized nail art designs. NAILS tasked six nail artists with creating wearable, abstract designs that feature the colors of Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Eve.
Design #26: Gel Marble (designed by Christie Gibson)
On a tile mix three shades of Blue/Green Kaleidoscope Gel, adding Black or White to get three shades in the same color family. With the darkest color, drag some random lines across the nail.

Behind the Scenes: Leaving on a Jet Plane
Elaine Watson, global education director for Star Nail International, sculpted this month’s autumn leaves for the cover. Because the nails were leaf-shaped at the free edge, she didn’t have to do any file-finish work, so the application was actually remarkably quick.
Design #25: Patchwork Art (designed by Christie Gibson)
Apply a small patch of Metallic Blue Acrylic to the nail.
