Vegas Vacation: The Top 3 and the Bottom 3

Challenge 4, sponsored by Glitz Accessories & Such, asked the Top 9 to create dazzling Vegas-inspired nails. Nancy Tran and Vicki Jensen of Glitz Accessories & Such were the guest judges this week.

In alphabetical order, the Top 3 are:

Ally: The judges praise you for your continued professionalism. Your design this week was well-balanced, cohesive, and has perfect color placement. Your showgirl was a show stopper from head to toe! More crystals and more roulette detail would have upped the ante.

Kelsey: The judges thank you for being so on-brand and so authentic week after week. Your unique perspective shined through again! A suggestion: if you’re saying in your video that Donny and Elvis are featured elements, consider showing them more prominently in your photo, or placing the showgirls elsewhere so as not to cover them. Your Glitz sign also needed some centering and refinement. Your portrait hand painting and Sharpie use were right on the money!

Stella: Your dice alone were winners this week. The whole set is cohesive and the carpet is a fabulous idea. We love watching you sculpt faces! Consider scaling the feathers in the headpiece down a bit, but overall, this set is glitzy AND glamorous!

The following artists can breathe again. They are in the middle of this week’s pack and are safe. Congratulations to:

April: Your scale and final shot were all on-point. Your showgirl was the show piece here, while the springs got mixed reactions from the judges. Consider removing the “You’re welcome” phrase in your videos to give off a more professional feel.

Becca: You embraced your strengths and the pay-off was a big one. The judges were unanimously wowed by your approach this week. Your choice in theme and technique made your set stand out from the rest in a way that made you shine like the star we all know you are. More crystals and a more cohesive colorway could have pushed this set into the top.

Helen: Your crystal placement complements your designs to make for a focused and clean set. Your video this week is full of different techniques also told in a clean and cohesive fashion. The playing card suits were a particular standout. Thank you, thank you very much!

Unfortunately, there always has to be a bottom group. The bottom 3, in alphabetical order, are:

Giselle: The judges applaud your video improvement. We believe you’ve found a happy medium for your storytelling, audio, and teaching within your videos and we congratulate you. Your artwork this week could benefit from a more defined colorway and theme. The scale should also be more dramatic for a Las Vegas theme.

Jessica: The judges know you are a true creative and have a unique perspective, but this week your theme was all over the place and therefore nothing stood out for us. Your video was also distracting. We recommend keeping the focus on nails in your videos so your artistry shines through. Longer nails could have also helped for this challenge in giving you more room to play.

Kadee: You took a risk this week by choosing to sculpt two people for a focused representation of the Vegas theme. More variety across the nails with your signature detail work could have helped this set hit a higher note. Speaking of, your sheet music and singing voice were a huge hit!
