Sheera Gersh, Addicted to Nails, Tempe, Ariz.

After 17 years of working with acrylics, Sheera Gersh believes her work still gets noticed because it stands out from the crowd. Her salon motto is “Nail artistry from mild to wild,” because she creates looks that are outgoing and show off a client’s personality. Due to the high volume of embedded design work, Gersh prefers working with acrylic. Her clients, who she describes as “very easy going,” allow her to create custom looks after giving her only a color to base her design off of. Gersh’s use of social media (Instagram and Facebook) allows for other potential clients to find and contact her, which is why she believes business is still booming.

Rachael Waggoner, Dazzlin’ Digits, Lakewood, Colo.

Rachael Waggoner specifically markets herself as a 3-D nail artist, attracting an adventurous clientele. “Acrylics allow me to accomplish so many different textures,” says Waggoner, who creates snow globes, 3-D flowers, and other dimensional objects for nails. She estimates 70% of her clients are dedicated to acrylics because she takes the time to educate them and strives to keep odor down at her station. “When nails are applied proficiently and an e-file is used correctly, there is no reason a client can’t wear a rockin’ set of acrylic nails,” she says.

Elaine and Jennifer Miller, Paris to New York Nail Bar, Henderson, Nev.

Mother-daughter nail design duo Elaine and Jennifer Miller believe quality products yield quality results, and once a customer experiences that, they come back for more. By putting quality first, these nail techs have established a largely acrylic-based business. “Our clients prefer acrylics because of the variety we offer with plenty of options and accessories,” the Millers say. Their salon proudly offers over 265 acrylic colors to choose from, 3-D embellishments, rhinestones, and the option of hand-painted designs that make every set truly one of a kind.
