Naoko Takano, a Tokyo-based OPI educator, was in Los Angeles earlier this year for regional training and to attend ISSE Los Angeles.When we found out she was going to be in town and got a look at some of her artwork, we knew we had to have her come in to do a cover. Naoko, who has been doing nails for eight years, learned how to run a nail business during her three years as a manager at a Tokyo nail salon. When she opened her salon in the Ebisu district of Tokyo in November 2001, she had no problem coming up with a name.

As an OPI educator in Japan, she works closely with Nadine Galli, OPI’s international sales director for Asia. In honor of her friendship with Nadine, Naoko named her salon Nadine Nails.

The salon, a favorite among models, singers, and actresses in Japan, has six nail techs and focuses on keeping clients’ nails healthy.Naoko makes it a priority to stay on top of nail trends as well as understanding nail health.
