Members of the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology thought they had it covered by only requiring licensees to wear “clean outer garments and adequate footwear” when serving clients, but the state legislature disagreed. As a result, the board now must come up with a new dress code for cosmetologists and students.

Some licensees are unhappy about the proposal-they believe it is unnecessary, a board spokeswoman says.
What prompted the legislature’s action?
“Well people can get pretty creative in their attire in Las Vagas,” the spokeswoman says.
The proposed new language says that “other garments” means one garment or a combination of garments which “provides adequate protection at least of the torso of the wearer’s body from debris, infections or communicable disease, infestations of animal parasites, and chemical hazards…”
