A check for $200,000 was presented to four charities by OPI Products’ president George Schaeffer at the launch party for the company’s new lacquer line, Nicole.  Editors, designers, and celebrity guests gathered at Gilda’s Club in New York to witness the unveiling of the new collection, appropriately subtitled, “Colors With a Conscience.”

With a marketing campaign aimed specifically at promoting social awareness, Nicole’s contribution was divided among four charities: Rock the Vote, The Starbright Foundation (which assists chronically ill children), Gilda’s Club (which supports cancer patients and their families), and the American Oceans Campaign.  Another $200,000 donation will be presented at year’s end.

Celebrity hosts Deborah Gibson (a.k.a. Debbie Gibson) and Bruno Kirby gave speeches, and Christopher Cuomo (Mario’s son) arrived fashionably late to show his support for Rock the Vote.  Designers Kenneth Cole and Helen Hsu were present as guests bid on their renditions of the Nicole pouch (made for the polish bottles), as well as other unique bags created by Bill Blass, Bob Mackey, Betsey Johnson, Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy, and Randolph Duke for Halston.
