Publisher’s Note: About Deadlines

The Publisher's Note is often the last item written for this book, corning as it does on the heels of the bulk material prepared for each edition, and at times causing a certain consternation at deadlines. This happens to be one of those moments.

The reason for its near negative impact on this writer this time around has to do with the actual image of the section: Publisher's notes are so serious, formal and rather business-like. They should impart words of wisdom, or alert the reader to some dire threat. In the least, they should effectively highlight the material in the edition. And this should be handled with a certain respect. . . after all, we do have our readers to think of and how would they react if this hallowed space was used in some frivolous manner?

The problem, to put it succinctly, is that I don't feel particularly somber or formal today. Quite the contrary, actually. We have just come off a very successful showing at the Long Beach Hairdressers Guild show, held last month, and we are still basking in the warm afterglow of the positive comments and stunning reception. The success at the show carries with it a certain significance ... it was at the Long Beach event that we debuted the magazine 14 long months ago.

For those of you who have just recently joined us, welcome. And for those of you who showed your appreciation, thank you. Your positive response has succeeded in cementing our approach and unique style.

For us, it is on to New York, where the International Beauty Show awaits. This will be our second sojourn there, and we hope for a similar reception. Should you be attending, stop by and see us. We're in booth #1317.
