As a state school coordinator for OPI, I keep in contact with privately owned beauty schools, community colleges, and high schools that have cosmetology programs. OPI has developed a national school program, which gives students 30% off on products, and allows them to attend free educational workshops with purchases.

Dee Manieri, OPI state school coordinator, Greensboro, N.C.

I am in direct contact with beauty college owners and directors to help provide the highest-quality products and education their students can receive. I travel throughout Oregon teaching hands-on workshops at each of these beauty colleges. I share my own personal experiences as a salon owner and nail technician, and it seems to help the students with their transition from beauty college to working in a salon. I am also an associate member of the Association of Oregon Cosmetology Colleges, so I can learn how colleges operate at the administrative level.

Tina Leonard, A Perfect Ten, Eugene, Ore.

I teach one day a week at a local beauty school that needed help with nail care. I try to show the students the correct techniques and how things are done in salons. Everyone needs a mentor.

Jill Wright, Angel’s Salon, Bowling Green, Ky.

I post employment opportunities with nail instructors and offer a professional tour of my salon in hopes of inspiring up- and-coming nail care professionals.

I am a licensed nail technician and I work for OPI as a state school coordinator. I contact cosmetology schools in Iowa to offer educational services, product knowledge, and work with the school’s goals and curriculum. I serve the students in a way that helps foster a love for nails.

Sue Pulley, OPI state school coordinator, Des Moines, Iowa
